Learning about daily routines

Lucy has just moved work to a subsidiary in London for one week.

This is the first time she has gone to London. And her friend Anna comes to visit her on Sunday.

Hi, Anna, welcome to my room.

Lucy, how are you today?

I’m fine. Thanks and you?

I’m fine, too. You have such a large and beautiful room Lucy.

Yes, thank you. Let have a sit down first and make yourself comfortable Anna.

Would you like something to drink?

I have milk tea orange juice and coffee.

I would like a glass of orange juice, please.

Okay, just wait for me a few moments.

Anna here you are

Thank you, Lucy. It looks sweet.

Do you get on well with life in London? Is there anything strange for you?

Well, it is hard for me to live in a strange city at first, you know.

I don’t have so many friends here. So sometimes I feel a little bit alone.

But things have been changed better.

My colleagues here are very friendly and they support so much both in life and work.

That is great to hear that.

What is a typical day in your life?

Well I get up at 6:30, a m–

I go to the bathroom.

I wash my face and brush my teeth.

I have breakfast at around 7 a.m.

I usually have boiled eggs milk with toast butter and jam.

I always leave home at 7:30. And start working at 8 a.m.

My room is far from the company only 10 kilometers.

However, due to I have not been getting acquainted with the traffic here.

So I go to work a little early.

I have lunch at the company canteen with my colleagues at about 12:00 a.m.

Then back to work at 1 p.m.

I leave work at around 6 p.m. Every day.

Your company doesn’t close at five PM does it?

No, my company closes at 5 p.m. As usual.

But because I am a new member here, so I need more time to finish my work.

I often spend one hour on working overtime everyday. You are so tired, aren’t you?

Thank you, Anna. I am fine.

What do you often do after work? Well, I often go for a walk in the park near my apartment to relax after work.

Sometimes I go shopping with my colleague.

I have dinner at around 8 p.m.

What do you often do to relax in the evening?

I often phone my parents and talk to them about what I do here.

Then I chat with my friends for a while.

Then I take a bath. At 11 p.m.

I turn off the lights and go to bed.

What about the weekend? On weekends.

I like going to the movies. Or I go cycling with my friends.

We have so much fun together.

Okay, that is fine.

Wow, it is 10:45 a.m.

Now it is time for me to pick up my children, Lucy.

I take them to my parents house this morning before I come to your room.

Now I’ll pick them up. And make lunch.

Then I have to take them to class this afternoon.

I have to go home now, Lucy. Okay.

Thank you for visiting me today.

I feel so happy because I have you here my friend next time take the kids to my room and have lunch with me Anna.

Yes, sure. I go home now. Goodbye.

Goodbye, keep in touch.
